Abstract
Personal hygiene is an action to maintain the cleanliness and health of a person to maintain health, both physical and psychological. Based on the researchers' initial survey conducted in July at SMA Etislandia with a total of 45 students, through interviews with 7 female students, 4 students said that they experienced an itchy feeling in their female area when 3 female students experienced vaginal discharge. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of teenage girls’ behavior with personal hygiene during menstruation at SMA Etislandia Medan in 2018.
The research method used is analytical survey with cross sectional approach. The populations in this study were 45 students. The sampling in this study used the total population techniques with a total sample of 45 respondents. The data analysis using univariate and bivariate Chi Square tests at 95% confidence level (α = 0.05).
The results of statistical tests with Chi Square, obtained the results of knowledge (0.033), attitude (0.49), and action (0.032) with personal hygiene during menstruation at SMA Etislandia Medan in 2018.
The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is the relationship between knowledge, attitudes and actions of teenage girls with menstrual personal hygiene at SMA Etislandia Medan in 2018. It is expected that teachers can motivate teenage girls to apply and maintain personal hygiene in their daily lives.
