Abstract
The correct breastfeeding technique is how to give breast milk to the baby with attachment and the position of the mother and baby correctly. The importance of proper breastfeeding techniques requires knowledge so that breastfeeding mothers can apply the right breastfeeding techniques that can prevent breastfeeding problems such as nipple blisters, and mastitis. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge and attitudes of mothers with correct breastfeeding techniques in Gunung Tua Hajoran Image Clinic in 2018.
This study used an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The population of all breastfeeding mothers who had 0-12 month old babies who visited the Citra Hajoran clinic in Gunung Tua in June-August amounted 47 people. The sampling technique in this study used accidental sampling with a sample of 31 respondents. Data were analyzed by using univariate and bivariate with Chi-square test.
The results showed that of the 31 breastfeeding mothers who had less knowledge about correct breastfeeding techniques, there were 14 respondents (45.2%), while breastfeeding mothers who had negative attitudes were 14 respondents (45.2%). Based on the Chi-square test, the results of the relationship between mother's knowledge and breastfeeding techniques correctly with a value of p = 0.006 < α = 0.05 and the results of the relationship between the attitude of mothers with breastfeeding techniques correctly with a value of p = 0.006 <α = 0.05.
The conclusion of this study there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes of mothers with breastfeeding techniques correctly in Citra Hajoran Clinic Gunung Tua in 2018. It is expected that all breastfeeding mothers who have babies 0-12 months to further increase their knowledge of have breastfeeding techniques correctly everyday life.
