Abstract

Menstrual disorders are reproductive health disorders that are often complained of by many women, especially young women. These disorders can occur ranging from mild to severe levels and will have an impact on daily activities. The preliminary survey results at Medan Dharma Pancasila High School in 2017 showed that some female students mentioned the reason for not attending school due to menstrual pain before menstruation. The purpose of this study was to determine the affecting factors of menstrual disorders on young women students class X and XI at SMA Dharma Pancasila Medan in 2017 ”.
This type of research is an analytic survey with a cross-sectional approach to study the affecting factors of menstrual disorders by conducting risk factors analysis and the effects were observed only once at the same time. The population in this study amounted to 159 students and a sample of 114 students taking samples with simple random sampling.
The results showed that stress had an effect in menstrual disorders with P = 0.003, physical activity had an effect in menstrual disorders with P = 0.002, nutritional status had an effect in menstrual disorders with P = 0.026, family support had an effect in menstrual disorders with P = 0.000.
Conclusion: based on the results of multiple logistic regression analysis, it was known that the most influential factors in menstrual disorders were family support variables with P = 0,000 and having a value of OR 5.581 (95% CI = 2.124-14.663) meaning 5.581 times less students with family support at risk of experiencing heavy menstrual disorders. Suggestion: families were expected to provide every support for young women so that they can manage all forms of problems experienced, especially regarding reproductive health so that disorders such as menstruation do not occur.
