Abstract
Breastmilk inhibition is an increase in venous and lymph flow in the breast in order to prepare for lactation, occurs due to narrowing of the lactiferous duct which is not completely emptied and lack of knowledge of mothers about breast care. Therefore breast care is very important so that breastmilk inhibition does not occur. The aim is to find out the relationship between the history of breast care and breastmilk inhibition in postpartum mothers.
This study uses an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The populations of this study were 34 postpartum mothers with total population sampling, analyzed by using chi-square.
The result of the study of breast care history in the category of breast care as many as 21 respondents (61.8%), did not perform breast care as many as 13 respondents (38.2%). Breastmilk inhibition category did not occur breastmilk inhibition as many as 19 respondents (55.9%), breastmilk inhibition occurred as many as 15 respondents (44.1%). Based on the results of the chi-square test, it was known that the value of sig p (0.007) <sig value α (0.05), Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected.
The conclusion of the study showed that there was a relationship between breast care history with breastmilk inhibition in postpartum mothers at Bidan Praktek Mandiri Feriyani Dusun Sidomulyo Desa Kosik Putih, Simangambat Sub District in 2018. It is suggested to Feriyani Clinic to provide counseling about breast care both during pregnancy and postpartum.
