Abstract
Anemia in pregnancy is one of the female reproductive health problems because it can endanger the health of the mother and baby. Factors suspected to be the cause of anemia during pregnancy are close pregnancy intervals and non-compliance with consuming Fe tablets. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of pregnancy distance and adherence to consuming Fe tablets with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women.
This type of research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at the Simpang Kiri Subulussalam Health Center. The total population is 48 people, and all of them are sampled. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate using Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level ( = 0.05).
The results showed that the distance of pregnancy was associated with the incidence of anemia at the Subulussalam Simpang Kiri Health Center in 2018, p = 0.001 <0.05. Compliance with consuming Fe tablets at Subulussalam Simpang Kiri Health Center in 2018, p = 0.023 <0.05. The distance of pregnancy <2 years and not adhering to consuming Fe tablets can cause anemia in pregnant women.
The conclusion of this study is that the distance of pregnancy and adherence to consuming Fe tablets are related to the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the third trimester. It was suggested to the head of the Simpang Kiri Subulussalam Health Center to be more active in providing health counseling or socialization to the community, especially for pregnant women about iron consumption, and giving iron tablets to pregnant women who performed a minimum of 90 grains during pregnancy.
