Abstract
Dermatophytosis is a group of fungal skin diseases on the skin caused by dermatophytes. One of the factors that influence fungal disease is personal hygiene and not using personal protective equipment while working. In the Air Terjun Health Centre of Medan Marelan shows the prevalence of skin diseases in 2017 reached 20%. Medan Marelan market is a workplace, especially the fish seller that has the potential for dermatophytosis occurance on fish seller at Marelan market.
This type of research is observational analytic with Cross Sectional research design. With a sample of all wet fish sellers amounted 52 respondents. Data were analyzed by using univariate and bivariate analysis with Fisher's Exact Test.
The results showed personal hygienic variables with the onset of dermatophytosis at a significant level with p-value = .001 < .05 and also the use of personal protective equipment with dermatophytosis occurance at a significant level with p-value = 0.004 <0.05.
These results conclude that there is a relationship of personal hygiene and the protective equipment usage with dermatophytosis occurance. It was suggested to the leaders of Marelan market Medan to further improve sanitation facilities and provide complete personal protective equipment to the workers of wet fish sellers.
