Abstract
The Kleiner Perkins Internet Trends Caufield & Byers's report mentions a high number, ie the average user checks his cellphone 150 times a day. Based on the results of the initial survey of 20 Amanah Middle School students, there were 9 (nine) students who answered there was a school policy on smartphone use, and there were 11 (eleven) SMP Amanah students who answered there was no school policy regarding smartphone usage. This study aims to analyze the relationship between School Policy and the Role of Parents with Smartphone Addiction Behavior in Amanah Middle School Students in 2018.
The study design was an analytical survey with a cross section approach. The study sample was 44 Amanah Middle School students who had smartphones at Amanah-1 Middle School. Data were analyzed by conducting Chi-square analysis.
The results showed that school policy variables had a significant relationship with smartphone addiction behavior in Amanah-1 Middle School students at a significant level of 0,000; Likewise, the role of parents has a significant relationship with smartphone addiction behavior in Amanah-1 Middle School students at a significant level of 0,000.
These results conclude that there is a relationship between school policy and the role of parents with smartphone addiction behavior in Amanah-1 junior high school students in 2018. It is recommended to SMP Amanah-1 to intensify socialization and counseling to junior high school students about the negative effects of smartphone addiction; and parents also persuasively guide their children so they don't experience smartphone addiction.
