Abstract
Based on data obtained from Indonesia's health profile, it was found that the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding decreased every year, the latest data in 2016 coverage of 40,326 (29.5%) is still very far from the national target, of course this is still very far from the national target of ( 80%). One of the causes is the lack of knowledge and attitudes of mothers. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between maternal attitudes towards exclusive breastfeeding in infants aged 0-6 months at Mera Clinic Tanjung Mulia, Medan Deli Sub District in 2018.
The research design uses analytical survey with Cross Sectional approach. The populations in this study were nursing mothers who had babies aged 7-12 months as many as 43 people. The sampling technique used Total Population. The data analysis using univariate and bivariate data with Chi-Square data test
The results showed that there were still many mothers who did not give exclusive breastfeeding at Mera Clinic, namely 28 people (65.1%). The results of chi-square test obtained p value of knowledge and attitude of mothers with exclusive breastfeeding, which was 0.045 and 0.05, meaning that Ha was accepted by H0, which means that there was a relationship between knowledge and attitudes of mothers with exclusive breastfeeding.
The conclusion of this study shows that the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of mothers with exclusive breastfeeding. It is suggested for health workers to be able to provide lactation counseling since the antenatal care visit and to the Health Center to provide regular counseling about exclusive breastfeeding.
