Abstract
Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) is placing the baby prone on the mother's chest or abdomen which is performed at least one hour immediately after birth. In IMD practice, this skin contact will make breast milk quickly come out because more and more oxytocin is released in the mother's bloodstream. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship of Early Breastfeeding Initiation with the Smoothness of Breastmilk Expenditures on Post Partum mothers at Pratama Niar Clinic Medan in 2018.
The design in this study is an analytical survey, an observational type with Cross Sectional approach. The populations in this study were postpartum mothers who gave birth at Pratama Niar Clinic as many as 35 respondents and the sampling in this study used accidental sampling. The data collection techniques use primary, secondary, tertiary data. The data were analyzed by performing Chi-square analysis test.
The results of 32 respondents showed that postpartum mothers who performed Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) smoothness of breastmilk as many as 13 people (68.4%) and that carried out Early Breastfeeding Initiative (IMD) smoothness of their ASI was not smooth as many as 6 people (31, 6%). While those who did not have Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) smoothness breastmilk smoothly as many as 2 people (15.4%) and those who did not have Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) smoothness of breastmilk was not smooth as many as 11 people (84.6%). Value of α = 0.05 obtained p-value = 0.010
It can be concluded that there is a relationship between Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) and smoothness of breastmilk expenditure on post partum mothers at Pratama Niar Clinic Medan in 2018. It is suggested to the respondents to use this study to improve the paradigm of respondents, namely respondents following counseling on Early Breastfeeding Initiation in Health Center.
