Abstract
Injectable birth control is a way to prevent pregnancy through injections containing a liquid containing substances in the form of estrogen and progesterone hormones or just progesterone for a certain period. Factors that influence acceptors in the selection of injectable birth control are: age, education, knowledge, source of information and husband's support. This study aims to determine the related factors to the selection of injectable birth control at Praktek Bidan Mandiri Erna Tarigan, Sei Mati of Medan Labuhan in 2018.
The design of this study uses an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was 133 people. The sample was obtained by 57 acceptors using the Slovin formula and using simple random sampling techniques. The data analuzed by using an univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis.
Based on the results of the educational statistical test gave a significant influence on the selection of injectable birth control seen sig-p value 0.041 <0.05 with the value of Exp (B) = 13.011. Knowledge of giving a significant effect on the selection of injectable birth control was shown by the s-p value = 0.022 <0.05 with the value of Exp (B) = 17.157. Sources of information have a significant influence on the selection of contraceptive methods indicated by the s-p value = 0.025 <0.05 with the value of Exp (B) = 10.321. Husband's support gave a significant influence on the selection of injectable birth control by the value of p-p = 0.039 <0.05 with the value of Exp (B) = 15,837. The most influential variable on the selection of injectable birth control was knowledge with the value of Exp (B) = 17,157 followed by husband's support variable with the value (Exp (B) = 15,837.
The conclusion in this study shows that there is an influence of education, knowledge, husband's support and sources of information with the selection of injectable birth control. Furthermore, it is suggested to the health workers to improve the knowledge of acceptors about injectable birth control and the husband supports to choose maternal contraception.
