Abstract
The menopause will cause many changes that occur both physical changes and psychological changes. The physical changes related to menopause are weight gain, fatigue, insomnia and sleep disturbances, and hair loss. Lack of knowledge will also affect the attitude shown by women during menopause changes. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with physical changes in menopausal mothers at Lingkungan V Purwosari of Aek Batu in 2018.
The research design used is an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The independent variable in this study i the knowledge and attitude of the dependent variable was physical change. The study population was a total population with 50 respondents. The data analysis was done by using chi-square statistical test with = 0.05.
The results showed that most of the knowledge of menopausal mothers was in the sufficient category of 21 respondents (42%) and felt physical changes as many as 10 respondents (20%), the value of statistical calculations showed that the probability of knowledge sig_p = 0.047 <value 5 = 0.05. And the probability value of the attitude was sig_p = 0.015 <sig value value = 0.05.
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with physical changes in menopausal mothers at Lingkungan V Purwosari of Aek Batu in 2018. It is suggested to the health workers to be able to improve the knowledge of menopausal mothers so that they are better prepared for menopause.
