Abstract
Hypertension or high blood pressure is an increase in systolic pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic pressure of more than 90 mmHg. Hypertension can be defined as persistent blood pressure where the systolic pressure is above 140 mmHg and the diastolic pressure is above 90 mmHg. Meanwhile, normal systolic blood pressure is 110/140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure is 70/90 mmHg. According to WHO (World Health Organization) around the world about 972 million people or 24% of people are affected by hypertension. Based on 2018 Riskesdas data, the prevalence of hypertension has increased from 2013 by (25.8%) to (34.1%). Based on data from reskesdas aceh 2018, the prevalence of hypertension based on measurement results in the population of Aceh province is 26.45%. While the prevalence of hypertension based on the measurement results in the population of Aceh Singkil is 21.65%. This study aims to determine the relationship between sodium intake, physical activity and nutritional status on the incidence of hypertension in the Singkohor Health Center, Aceh Singkil Regency.
This research is an observational study with a cross sectional design. The population is taken from the age of 26-55 years. Case samples were 21 respondents with hypertension and 16 respondents without hypertension. The data were analyzed bivariately with chi-square statistical test.
The results of the study found two variables related to the incidence of hypertension, namely sodium intake with a p value = 0.00 and nutritional status with a p value = 0.00, and those that were not related to the incidence of hypertension, namely physical activity with a p value - = 0.10.
Suggestions are expected to apply a healthy lifestyle and reduce foods that contain high sodium, as well as regulate a balanced diet and eat foods rich in fiber. To set the ideal body weight for the incidence of hypertension.
