Abstract
Massage is a wonderful way for mothers and children to express their love and attention to their babies. Massage can calm the baby and help him sleep. Massage has many additional benefits for the baby including increasing weight gain, helping the digestive system, improving blood circulation, and reducing colic. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of infant massage on weight gain of 0-6 month infants at Siti Hajar Clinic Marelan in 2018.
The design of this study is Quasy Experiment study using the Nonequivalent Pretest Posttest Control Group Design approach. This sample consists of 30 respondents. The sampling technique was done by using total population. The analysis of the study used univariate and bivariate analysis using t-paired test.
Univariate analysis of research results from 30 respondents, in the control group the pretest was 5800 grams and the posttest was 6100 grams. In the case group the pretest score was 5113 grams and the posttest value was 7006 grams. Comparison of weight gain in the control group was 300 grams, while in the case group was 1893 grams. Bivariate analysis of the results of the t-paired test value р = 0.00 <0.05 so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. There was an effect of baby massage with a weight gain of 0-6 months.
The conclusion of this study shows that there is an effect of infant massage on weight gain of 0-6 months babies at Siti Hajar Clinic Marelan in 2018. It is expected to the community, especially mothers who have babies to massage their own babies.
