Abstract
Labor is a normal physiological event. Labor pain is a natural process that is felt by mothers who will give birth. One that can reduce maternal pain during childbirth is accompaniment from the husband, because the effects of feeling including anxiety on each mother is related to the perception of the supportive person. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of husband's support in assisting his wife to give birth with pain during childbirth.
This study uses analytical observation research design and Cross Sectional approach. The samples of the study were 15 respondents and the sampling in this study used Accidental Sampling. The data analysis using was done by Chi-square statistical test.
Pain during childbirth included in the category of mild pain as many as 4 people, in the category of moderate pain as many as 8 people, in the category of severe pain as many as 3 people, with Chi-Square statistical test with a value of ρ = 0.033 where ρ <α = 0.05.
The conclusion of the study shows that there is a relationship between husband's support in assisting his wife with pain during childbirth at BPS Suhesti Kelurahan Mabar, Medan Deli District in 2018. It is expected that BPS Suhesti could help fulfill the mother's needs for feeling comfortable in controlling pain when giving birth assistance by applying a policy written about the accompaniment of the husband in the mother during childbirth.
