Abstract

Personal hygiene during menstruation is an individual hygiene that plays an important role in determining health status, especially avoiding reproductive infections. The purpose of this study was to determine what factors related to personal hygiene behavior during menstruation, such as knowledge, information sources, social culture and income of parents at MAN Manyak Payed Aceh Tamiang in 2018
The design of this study uses analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The populations in this study were 46 female students, the sampling method was saturated sampling that was the entire population used as a sample of 46 female students. The analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test, the measuring instrument used was questionnaire and the data processed by using computerization with a significance level of P-Sign <0.05.
The results of this study indicated that there is a relationship between knowledge and results (Value = 0.000), source of information with results (P value = 0.002), socio-cultural with results (p value = 0.046) and no relationship between parental income and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation with results (Value = 1,000).
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship between knowledge, information sources, socio-culture with personal hygiene behavior during menstruation and there is no relationship between parental income and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation. This study suggests that adolescents can improve personal hygiene during menstruation by providing themselves as much as possible with the knowledge gained from the mass media, parents or peers. For schools, they can apply health education methods to improve personal hygiene during menstruation.
