FACTORS AFFECTING FAMILY HEAD IN UTILIZING HEALTHY LATRINE IN LEUBANG HULU VILLAGE, TEUPAH BARAT, SIMEULUE DISTRICT

Family latrines are a basic sanitation facility to maintain environmental health in order to improve public health. Leubang Hulu Village is one of the villages in Teupah Barat District, Simeulue Regency which has the lowest latrine ownership coverage, which is equal to 46.24%. This study aims to determine the factors that influence family heads in utilizing healthy latrines in Leubang Hulu Village, Teupah Barat District, Simeulue Regency in 2019.
This type of research is an analytical survey method with a cross sectional approach. The study population was 93 families in Leubang Hulu Village with a sample of the entire population. Data analysis used univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with chi-square test statistics and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic test statistics.
The results of this study indicate that there is influence of knowledge (p = 0.016), attitudes (p = 0.042), availability of latrines (p = 0.043) and the role of health workers (p = 0.006) on healthy latrine utilization, while there is no influence on economic status (p = 0.558) towards the utilization of healthy latrines in Leubang Hulu Village, Teupah Barat District, Simeulue Regency in 2019.
The conclusion of this study is that there are influences between knowledge, attitudes, latrine availability and the role of health workers on the utilization of healthy latrines in Leubang Hulu Village, Teupah Barat District, Simeulue Regency in 2019. It is expected that the Village Head can provide information to the community to use healthy latrines with standards health.
