Abstract
Stunting is a condition where chronic malnutrition is caused by a lack of nutritional intake for a considerable period of time due to feeding that is not in accordance with nutritional needs. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the occurrence of stunting in children under five in the work area of Paringgonan Health Center.
The design of this study is an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were all mothers who had toddlers in the working area of Paringgonan Health Center totaling 1,036 and using the proportionate stratified random sampling to 91 people. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The instruments used were checklist sheets and questionnaires using univariate, bivariate analysis using Chi-square test.
The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of LBW on the occurrence of stunting in children under five in the Paringgonan Health Center work area, there is an influence of economic status on stunting in children under five in the Paringgonan Community Health Center work area. there was no effect of environmental sanitation on the occurrence of stunting in children under five in the Paringgonan Pukesmas working area.
Obtained no effect of LBW, economic status, education with the occurrence of stunting in children under five and there is no effect on environmental sanitation with the occurrence of stunting in children under five. It is recommended that Puskesmas provide Health Education about the importance of fulfilling nutrition for growth and development in children under five.
