Abstract
Elderly gymnastics is a form of participation of the elderly in the health sector to achieve optimal health status. Based on data from the Central Tapanuli District Poriaha Health Center in 2018, there were only 20 elderly gymnastics visits. The aim of this study was to find out what factors were related to the use of elderly gymnastics in the working area of Poriaha Health Center Central Tapanuli District in 2018.
The type of this research is an explanatory research survey with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this research was 614 respondents at Poriaha Health Center Central Tapanuli District with a total sample of 86 respondents taken by accidental sampling technique. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test statistics at a confidence level of 90%.
The results showed that there was a relationship of knowledge (p = 0.027), attitude (p = 0,000), access (p = 0.002), family support (p = 0.004) with the use of elderly gymnastics and no relationship between health personnel support (p = 0.522) with utilization of elderly gymnastics at Poriaha Health Center Central Tapanuli District in 2018.
It was recommended that the Central Tapanuli Health Center make socialization of elderly gymnastics and make the location of gymnastics easily accessible to most elderly respondents.
