Abstract
Health experts through research found evidence that babies who are often massaged will grow healthy, breathe well and sleep well. Many false understandings about baby massage. Knowledge and attitudes influence the implementation of healthy living behavior and in overcoming problems that do not understand the benefits and implementation of infant massage. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mother's knowledge and attitudes with the implementation of infant massage.
The type of this research is quantitative, descriptive correlation research design with cross sectional approach. The populations in this study were all mothers who had 0-6 month babies as many as 248 people and the sampling technique in this study was accidental sampling as many as 35 people. Primary data collection was collected by questionnaire and analyzed using chi-square test.
The results showed that most respondents had less knowledge as many as 14 people (40.0%) and negative attitudes as many as 22 people (62.9%). Analysis of statistical tests using Chi-square test obtained P value (0.002) for knowledge and P (0.002) for attitude.
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship between mother's knowledge and attitudes with the implementation of infant massage for 0-6 month babies at Paya Lombang Health Center, Tebing Tinggi Sub District, Serdang Bedagai District in 2018. It is suggested that the local Health Center can make baby massage training for health workers to improve midwife's knowledge and skills in doing baby massage, and it is expected that health workers to improve the guidance of community participation in the field of baby health, especially providing education about infant massage so that people know the benefits of baby massage.
