Abstract
Complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are complaints in parts of the skeletal muscles that are felt by a person ranging from very mild complaints to very painful. This complaint occurs when the muscle receives a static load repeatedly and for a long time, can cause complaints in the form of damage to the joints, ligaments, and tendons. Risk factors that influence the occurrence of Musculoskeletal complaints include sitting position, length of work and length of service. This study aims to determine the relationship of sitting position, work duration and length of service of complaints of MSDs to computer user workers at the Central Statistics Agency of North Sumatra Province.
The design of this study was analytical survey research method with cross sectional research design with a sample of all Non-Structural employees. There are 74 employees with computer users at Central Statistics Agency. The data were analyzed by using univariate and bivariate analysis and tested by Chi-square test.
The results showed a variable sitting position with complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorder at a significant level with p-value = (0.042 <0.05), as well as variable work duration with Musculoskeletal Disorder complaints at a significant level with p-value = (0.044 <0, 05) and the working period variable with Musculoskeletal Disorder complaints at a significant level with p-value = (0.702 <0.05).
The results of this study conclude that there is a relationship between sitting position and work duration with complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorder but there is no relationship between years of service and complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorder. It is suggested to the leadership of the Central Statistics Agency of North Sumatra Province in order to make an appeal so that workers are allowed to take a break at one time in their working hours when workers have begun to feel complaints in the body muscles.
