Abstract

Shampoo is a semi-solid liquid form containing surfactants in a form that is suitable and useful for removing hair and scalp so as not to face the hair, scalp and shampoo. Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L) contain saponins, falconoid, alkaloids, essential oils, tannins. Based on the components, Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L) can be used as shampoo. This study aims to formulate the Bandotan leaves ethanol extract into a shampooform.
This research was conducted in experimental research. Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L.) were extracted by maceration. The formula produced with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% with test parameters, namely organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, irritation test, foam height test, and hedonic test (preference test).
The results showed that all shampoo form were homogeneous. Organoleptic test showed a dark brown color and fragrant aroma of Bandotan leaves extract. Irritation test that gave a negative result found that there was no irritation reaction in volunteers. PH test was still a safe interval, scalp pH was 4.5-5.5, requirements for foam height test were 1.3-22 cm and still a safe labor interval.
The conclusion of this study obtained that the ethanol extract of Bandotan leaves can be formulated as a shampoo form. It is need to be done on the next researcher to do phytochemical screening to find out more about the compounds contained in Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L) which produce pH and foam height at the highest concentration.
