Abstract
LBW is an indicator to see how the child's health status is thus it is very important to monitor how the child's health status from birth whether the child is in good health or not. LBW becomes a public health problem because it is one of the causes of high infant mortality. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between weight gains of pregnant women with newborn weight at Leventri Clinic of Desa Afia, North Gunungsitoli Sub District, Gunungsitoli in 2018
This research is an analytical survey research with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at Leventri Clinic of Desa Afia, North Gunungsitoli Sub District, Gunungsitoli. The samples used in Total Sampling were mothers who had given birth at Leventri Clinic as many as 45 people. The data were analyzed by conducting Chi-square analysis tests.
Based on the results of the study of 45 respondents obtained results on the variable weight gain of pregnant women with newborn weight at Leventri Clinic with a p value of 0.002 <0.05 means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted then there was the relationship of weight gain of pregnant women with newborns.
It is suggested to the health workers to continue to provide intensive counseling to pregnant women, especially related to the consumption of healthy foods in accordance with nutritional needs during pregnancy.
