Abstract
The risk of dying in infants and toddlers who have poor nutrition is 13 times greater than in normal infants and toddlers. One of the factors that influence baby growth is environmental factors such as stimulation / stimulation. The provision of stimulation in the form of baby massage is thought to increase the baby's weight. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of baby massage on weight gain.
The design of this study is quasi-experimental. The study was conducted at the Juwita S. Pane Clinic in Mandailing Natal district. With the number of samples in this study as many as 16 babies were all treated in the form of baby massage. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test.
The results showed that the average body weight value before massage was 4707,50 and after massage was obtained the average baby's body weight was 5303,13. There is an increase in body weight after being given a treatment of 595.62 with a significant value of p value 0,000 (p <0.05).
The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of baby massage on increasing baby's weight. It is recommended to owners of Juwita S. Pane Clinic to conduct baby massage classes and provide counseling and socialization about baby massage.
