Abstract
Every pregnant woman wants the process of pregnancy up to delivery can run normally and smoothly, and does not experience interference during pregnancy and childbirth. One way to keep the mother and baby healthy during pregnancy is to do antenatal care. Medan Health Profile Data for 2016 shows that in 2016, K1 and K4 coverage in Medan namely K1 was 94.4% and K4 was 89.6%. The targets for K1 and K4 were 100%. The achievement of the ANC visit was allegedly related to the knowledge possessed by pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of maternal knowledge with the compliance of ANC visits.
The type of this research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at Padang Bulan Health Center. The study populations were 238 people, and the samples were 70 people. The data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate by using Chi-Square test.
The results showed that the knowledge of pregnant women at Padang Bulan Health Center Medan in 2018 was in the sufficient category (40.0%). Compliance of ANC visits at Padang Bulan Health Center Medan in 2018 in the compliance category (61.4%). Maternal knowledge was related to the compliance of ANC visits to pregnant women at Padang Bulan Health Center Medan in 2018, p = 0.031 <0.05. The better maternal knowledge, the more obedient in conducting ANC visits.
The conclusion of this study shows that the compliance of pregnant women to ANC visits is related to their knowledge. It suggested to the head of Padang Bulan Medan Health Center to increase the coverage of ANC visits both K1 and K4 in their working area by innovating by forming a class of pregnant women.
