Abstract
Liquid bath soap is a liquid form used to clean the skin, made from soap-based ingredients with the addition of surfactants, foam stabilizers, preservatives, and perfumes that are permitted and used for bathing without irritating the skin. One of the natural ingredients that can replace the active ingredients of liquid bath soap is carrot extracts which containing antioxidants and vitamin C. Carrot plants (Daucus carota L.) have active compounds namely antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin A, which can be used as a moisturizer skin. The purpose of the study was to determine the formulation of liquid bath soap with carrot extract (Daucus carota L.).
This research method was done by using an experimental laboratory method by extracting carrot for 24 hours precipitated which then continued in the formulation of liquid bath soap of carrot extract (Daucus carota L.) with a concentration of 0%, 5%, 7%, and 9% the test of form made includes homogeneity inspection, pH test, foam power test, irritation test, hedonic test.
The results showed that all liquid bath soap form were homogeneous, organoleptic test showed yellowish orange color, fragrant aroma therapy, and liquid texture. The pH test showed a pH of 9.9 to 11.5. The irritation test showed that the liquid bath soap form gave negative results that there was no irritation in volunteers.
The conclusion of the results obtained that carrot extract (Daucus carota L.) can be formulated as a liquid bath soap. It was suggested to the next researcher to make the formulation of other form of the same carrot extract (Daucus carota L.) as Tender Care.
