Abstract
IUD (Intra Uterine Device) is a contraceptive that is inserted into the uterus, made of a kind of plastic material; some are wrapped in copper, and various forms. A common and perhaps well-known form of society is a spiral form. Indonesia is a developing country. The problem found in Indonesia is the relatively high population growth rate. The estimated middle population is 248.8 million people with a population growth rate of 1.48%. The purpose of this study was to determine the related factors to the selection of IUD contraceptives at Mariana Clinic in Medan. Factors studied include age of knowledge, education, and support of women.
The research design used is an analytical survey using a cross sectional approach. The sample of these study as many as 37 respondents, the sampling technique was done by using accidental sampling.
The research analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test. The object of this study was active family planning acceptors at Mariana Clinic. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the factor of knowledge (0.0001 <0.05), education (0.017> 0.05), husband's support (0.002 <0.05) against the selection of IUD contraceptives at Mariana Clinic Medan.
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship between knowledge and support of husbands with the selection of IUD contraceptives at Mariana Clinic Medan. There is no relationship between education and the selection of IUD contraceptives at Mariana Clinic Medan.
