Abstract
Noni leaf (Morinda Citrifolia L.) is one of the plants used by the community as a vegetable. Besides being used as a vegetable, noni leaves can also be used by the community for medicinal plants. The chemical content in noni leaves are antraquinone, phenol, tannin, essential oil, saponins, glycosides, triterpenoids and flavonoids which have antibacterial activity. This study aims to determine the formulation of gel preparations with the use of (Morinda citrifolia L.) as a gel hand sanitizer extract.
This study used an experimental research method using Morinda citrifolia L. with a concentration of 0% (blank), 10%, 15%, 20%. Evaluation of gel preparations includes organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, and irritation test.
Based on the research that has been done. The results of the tests carried out on the four formulations include organoleptic test (half solid and somewhat liquid. The higher the concentration, the resulting color becomes blackish brown and the perfume is distinctive). The pH test ranges from 7.5 to 5.7, in blank, 10% and 15% homogeneous concentrations, 20% concentration is not homogeneous. An irritation test that gives a negative result to the observed irritation reaction.
The conclusion of this study that noni leaves (Morinda citrifolia L.) extract can be formulated into hand sanitizer gel preparations. It is recommended that further research be carried out on antibacterial tests to determine whether the noni leaves extract gel (Morinda citrifolia L.) is active in inhibiting the bacteria in hand, especially the staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
