Abstract
Efforts to reduce the population density of the government launched a Family Planning program. According to WHO globally, the use of modern contraceptives has increased slightly, from 54% in 1990 to 57.4% in 2015. According to the IDHS, women aged 15-19 years of injectable family planning were the most widely used contraceptives (29%). The medical record data of Dr. Tengku Mansyur Hospital from 2017-2018 found that mothers who used injectable contraceptives as many as 250 people. The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the use of injectable contraceptives and menstrual disorders in family planning acceptors at Dr. Tengku Mansyur Hospital of Tanjung Balai in 2018.
The design of this study uses an analytical survey design with cross sectional approach. This research was carried out in Dr. Tengku Mansyur Hospital Tanjung Balai from July to September 2018. The populations in this study were all injectable acceptors as many as 250 people. The samples were 72 people with simple random sampling technique. The data was analyzed by using univariate and bivariate analysis.
The results of the study showed that 40 women (55.6%) used 1-month injectable contraceptive and 32 people (44.4%) who had 3-month used injectable contraceptive experienced menstrual amenorrhea (44.4%), metrorargia (40.3%) menorarghia (15.3%). The chi-square statistical test results with a significance limit of sig α 0.05, obtained the p-value of 0.003 <sig α (0.05).
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a significant relationship between the use of injectable contraceptive and menstrual disorders in family planning acceptors. It is recommended for women of age to use injectable contraceptive as contraceptionon by referring to maternal hormones that use them to avoid menstrual disorders.
