Abstract

Burnout syndrome is characterized by gradual physical and mental exhaustion, feelings of exhaustion, disconnection, negative attitudes towards work, and reduced professional efficiency resulting from the work context. Nurses with Covid-19 patients are prone to experiencing burnout which can cause a decrease in work capacity and also endanger the nurses themselves. The general objective of this study was to determine the effect of internal and external factors on burnout syndrome in Covid-19 nurses at the Haj General Hospital in Medan. This research is a quantitative-analytic correlation study using a cross-sectional design approach. The location of this research is at RSU Haji Medan. The population is all Covid-19 nurses who are at U Haji Medan Hospital, totaling 86 people. Data analysis uses chi-square and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that nurses' coping variables (p=0.038), work difficulties (p=0.042), peer support (p=0.040), and personal protective equipment (p=0.037) had an effect on burnout syndrome in Covid-19 nurses at RSU Medan Hajj, while the variables of age, gender, years of service, superior support, family support and community stigma affect burnout syndrome in Covid-19 nurses at RSU Haji Medan. The conclusion in this study is that co-worker support has a dominant effect on burnout syndrome in Covid-19 nurses at RSU Haji Medan.
