Abstract
Tuberculosis is a respiratory disease caused by mycobacterium, which multiplies in parts of the body where there is plenty of blood and oxygen flow. This bacterial infection usually spreads through the blood vessels and lymph nodes. This germ most often attacks the lungs with the source of transmission being positive pulmonary TB patients with Acid Resistant Basil (BTA).
The research design used was an analytic survey to determine the relationship between the role of the family and health workers with adherence to taking medication in pulmonary TB patients at the Padang Bulan Health Center, Medan Baru District, Medan City, North Sumatra Province in 2021 with a cross sectional approach. The sample for this study was the entire population of NTB-MDR sufferers who were recorded at the Padang Bulan Health Center in January-December 2021 as many as 43 people using the total population and the chi square test analysis.
The results showed that the variable characteristics of the role of the family with medication adherence in pulmonary TB patients at a significant level of 0.031; Likewise, the role of health workers has a significant relationship with medication adherence in pulmonary TB patients at a significant level of 0.021. The results of this study concluded that there was a relationship between the role of the family and health workers with pulmonary TB patients at the Padang Bulan Health Center, Medan Baru District, Medan City, Sumatra Province, with an error rate of 0.05.
It is suggested to the relevant government agencies in Medan City, especially the Padang Bulan Health Center, to intensively conduct outreach to the public, especially regarding the role of health workers with medication adherence in pulmonary TB patients.
