Abstract

The performance of nurses is an important issue in hospital organizations in an effort to improve the efficiency of health services. The Performance Report of the Datu Beru Hospital in Takengon City is based on the Bed Occupancy Ratio (BOR) figure, which was 65% in 2017 and decreased to 63% in 2018. The decline was inseparable from the performance of nurses in the inpatient room, allegedly due to the leadership role. The purpose of the study was to determine and analyze the influence of the leadership role of the head of the room on the performance of nurses at the Datu Beru Regional General Hospital, Takengon City in 2022.
This type of research is an analytic survey with a cross sectional type. The total population is 100 nurses and the sample is 80 nurses. The research was conducted from February to March 2022 through the distribution of questionnaires. Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate and multivariate using multiple logistic regression test at a significance level of 95%.
The results showed that the initiative had a significant effect on nurse performance (p=0.035), decision making (p=0.015), communication (p=0.032), motivation (p=0.008), and human resource development (p=0.031). The motivation of the head of a good room tends to be 8,376 times that the nurses perform well in providing health services than the motivation of the head of the room that is not good.
The conclusion that the leadership role of the head of the room consists of initiative, decision making, communication, motivation and human resource development affect the performance of nurses. The dominant motivation variable affects the performance of nurses. It is suggested that the head of the ward can improve the performance of nurses by evaluating pocket books, daily beginning and end briefings, and providing regular guidance and direction.
