Abstract

The incidence of dysmenorrhea is quite high in the world. It is between 16.8-81% among teenage girls. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Indonesia is 64.25%. It is estimated that 90% of women in Indonesia have experienced dysmenorrhea but do not report to health services. Pain management can be done by a health worker by using non-pharmacological methods, one of which is by giving massage.
This study was a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was 64 respondents who experienced menstrual pain at SMPN 6 and SMPN 2 Langsa City, the sampling technique used was total sampling technique. The sample was divided into 4 treatment groups, namely the control group, endorphin massage, pressure massage and endorphin massage plus pressure massage. The analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis.
The results showed that the control group (without treatment) was not effective on the intensity of dysmenorrhea with values on the first day to the third day (p=1.000>.05) and the administration of endorphin massage, pressure massage and endorphin massage plus pressure massage on the first day until the third day was effective on the intensity of dysmenorrhea (p=0.000<.05). in multivariate testing, the three treatment groups were equally effective on the intensity of dysmenorrhea (p=0.000<.05).
The conclusion was obtained that the three treatments of endorphin massage, pressure massage and endorphin massage plus pressure massage were equally effective on the intensity of menstrual pain in adolescent girls.
