Abstract

Body weight is the result of an increase/decrease in all tissues in the body, including bone, muscle, fat, liquid body and body. There is an increase in fat in the body as a result of more calories, while it is stated that someone experiences obesity in excess body weight. The small tube that contains the hormone will go down a little, so that it prevents pregnancy. The aim in this study is to find out the relationship of implantable birth control with the increase in body weight at Panga Health Center of Aceh Jaya District in 2018.
The research design uses quantitative analytical survey with sectional cross sectional approach by using primary, secondary, and tertiary data. The populations in this study were implantables birth control acceptors that got services at Panga Health Center of Aceh Jaya District, which were 38 respondents. The sampling technique was the total population. The data analysis technique used Chi-square α = 0.05.
The results of this study of 38 respondents found that those using implantable birth control with a duration of usage ≤ 3 years were 14 respondents (36.8%), who experienced an increase in body weight by 4 respondents (10.5%) and those who did not experience an increase in body weight as many as 10 respondents (26.3%). While the respondents who used Implantable birth control >3 years were 24 respondents (63.2%), 18 respondents (47.4%) among them experienced an increase in body weight and 6 (15.8%) respondents did not experience an increase in body weight.
The conclusion of these studies shows that there was a significant relationship between implantable birth control use and weight gain at Pangan Health Center of Aceh Jaya District. It is suggested to the implantable birth control users to be able to consult with health care related to the changes that occur in while using the implantable birth control.
