Abstract
Pregnancy is a physiological or normal thing, but when pregnant mother need more nutritional or food intake than before, because during pregnancy the mother is a supplier of nutrients to grow and develop her fetus. One of the nutrients needed by pregnant women is iron. If the intake of iron in the mother is fulfilled this can bring positive things that can prevent anemia in pregnant women. Anemia in pregnancy has a bad influence on the mother in pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium and the next period. This study aims to determine the relationship between the purchase of Fe tablets and anemia in pregnant women in Aek Bayur Village, Padangsidimpuan Batunadua District, Padangsidimpuan City, 2018.
This study used a cross sectional design. The population of this study were all pregnant women from January to June 2018 in the village of Aek Bayur, District, in Padangsidimpuan Batunadua, Padangsidimpuan regency, as many as 35 respondents. The sample of this study were taken by using total sampling. Total sampling is a sampling technique where the number of samples is the same as the population. The number of samples amounted 35 people. Data analysis ere done by using univariate and bivariate with chi-square test.
The results of this study indicate that the correlation between the administration of Fe tablets with anemia in pregnant women with Sig-p = 0.03 <0.05. This means that pregnant women who get Fe tablets tend to only experience mild anemia while mothers who do not get Fe tablets experience moderate and severe anemia.
The conclusion of this study the relationship between giving Fe tablets with anemia in pregnant women was found. It is expected to heakth wortkers to give Fe tablets to pregnant woman in order to prevent anemia in pregnant women and to check Hb for every pregnant woman to anticipate the risk of anemia and provide counseling for mothers to increase their nutritional intake in daily meals, especially eating high in iron.
