Abstract

ABSTRACT

Irrational drug use is a very serious problem. Most drugs are prescribed, mixed or sold incorrectly. Medication is also susceptible to not being used properly. This will have an impact on not achieving therapeutic goals, increasing the incidence of drug side effects, increasing antibiotic resistance, spread of infection through unsterile injection, and drug wastage. The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia has monitored and evaluated POR in terms of prescribing indicators in health centre.

This research was a retrospective descriptive study by processing secondary data that aims to determine the description of rational drug by looking at the percentage of antibiotic usage and average drug items per non-pneumonia URI prescription sheet.

Based on the results of research conducted it can be seen that for the indicator of the percentage of antibiotic prescribing in non-pneumonia URI in 2018 there were values above 20%, namely in January at 26.3%, June at 23.5%, July at 29.2%; September 21.1%; and December 25.0%. For an average indicator of the number of drug items from January to December 2018, the total was above 2.6, which was 3.7 items.

The conclusion of this study from the indicators of prescribing antibiotics in non-pneumonia URI, Kuala Bali health centre has used rational drugs. But for the average drug items are still not rational. Continuing socialization is needed for doctors and drug officers about rational drug use and an understanding of the public about the dangers of inappropriate drug use.
