Abstract

Hypertension means an unnatural and continuous increase in blood pressure due to damage to one or several factors that play a role in maintaining blood pressure. It is said hypertension when blood pressure reaches ≥140 / 90 mmHg. Hypertension is a degenerative disease that often occurs and has a fairly high mortality rate and affects the quality of life and productivity of a person. Lifestyle is an important risk factor for hypertension in young adults. Increased hypertension in a person in young adulthood is influenced by an unhealthy lifestyle. Hypertension causes 62% of cases of stroke, 49% of heart attacks. 7 million premature deaths were caused by hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of hypertension drugs in outpatients of RSUD. dr. Pirngadi Medan. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. This research was conducted at the Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy. dr. Pirngadi Medan, North Sumatra, in May-July 2019. Based on the results of research conducted, the most widely used hypertension drug group is the Calcium Antagonist group, or commonly called Calcium Channel Inhibitor (CCB) with the use of 64586 tablets during January-March 2018. Medicines of this type are Amlodipine, Adalat Oros and Nifedipin. As for the use of hypertension medication, the most widely used is Valsartan 80 mg with a total usage of 64582 tablets during January-March 2018.
