Abstract

The white skin of watermelon contains substances that are needed by the skin, including citrulline which is one of the antioxidants. Watermelon rind has contents, namely vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin B16, vitamin E, and vitamin C. The purpose of this study was to determine that the white skin of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus (Thunberg) Matsum & Nakai extract can be formulated i a gel peel off mask preparation. The method; used in this study was an experimental method which is to experiment with the formulation of peel off gel maskfrom watermelon skin extract, with concentrations include organoleptic test, pH test, homogeneity test, irritation test for volunteers, dry time test and spreadability test. The results; of the organoleptic test showed that whie blanks were prepared, FI orange, FII brown, FIII dark brown, and all special aroma and semi-solid texture preparations. The pH test showed 6,3-6,7. Homogeneity test showed that all preparations are homogeneous. Irritation test for volunteers showed that all preparations do not cause irritation reaction. Dry preparation time test shows that 17-23 minutes peel off gel mask can form a film layer so that it can be stretched or peeled off. And the scatter pwer test shows 4.3-5,1 so that it has good drying time. The conclusion; from the study can be formulated in a peel off gel mask preparation. The suggestion in this study is that the next researcher make a formulation of ethanol extract of watermelon white skin in other preparations.
