Abstract

Pagoda flower is one of the plants included in the Verbenaceae family. This plant is a type of shrub with a height of 1-4 meters with branching on 4 sides. The trunk is filled with fine hair. Petiole leaf length 0.5-15 cm, single leaf, face to face with ovoid shape with heart-shaped base, leaf size 8-36cm x 6-24cm. The purpose of this study was to determine the phytochemical content contained in the n-hexane extract of pagoda leaves and to determine the n-hexane extract of pagoda leaves (Clerodendrum paniculatum. L) had toxicity to shrimp larvae (Artemia salina leach).
Phytochemical compounds were observed using alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, tannins and steroids/triterpenoids and to test the toxicity of pagoda leaf extracts using the Bhrine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT)
The results showed that the chemical compounds contained in pagoda leaves were alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, steroids / triterpenoids and for toxicity tests on pagoda leaves using concentrations of 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm, 80 ppm, 100 ppm, and 0 ppm as negative control had a total of 7, 14, 19, 21, 30.0 larvae and the average mortality was 0.23, 0.47, 0.63, 0.7, 1, and 0 with the percentage of deaths of 23.33, 46,67, 63,33, 70,100, and 0. The results of LC50 calculations from n-hexane extracts of pagoda leaves were determined by probit analysis of 41,919 ppm and n-hexane extracts of pagoda leaves (clerodendrum paniculatum leach) had potential toxicity to artemia salina leach larvae. with the BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) method and has the potential as an anti-cancer.
