Abstract

Background: Nausea occurs in the first trimester of pregnancy is caused due to an increase in levels of the hormone Estrogen and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). Nausea and vomiting often occur in the morning, called morning sickness. Emesis gravidarum causes disruption of activity, decreases appetite and dehydration, if not treated it will have an impact on hyperemesis gravidarum. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of drinking ginger on reducing emesis gravidarum in trimester 1 pregnant maternal at Niar Pratama Clinic in 2019. Methods: This type of research is Quasi Design Experiment with Non-Equivalent Control Group. Or also called Non-Randomized Group Pretest-Posttest using purposive sampling technique with a sample of 10 respondents. The tools and methods used to collect data were by observation and interview, with the time the study was conducted in August 2019. Result: The research showed that the Shapiro-Wilk normality test results contained Sig data (p<.05). The Wilcoxon test has a p-value=.005 (p<.05) which means that there is effectiveness of ginger drink on the reduction of emesis gravidarum in trimester 1 pregnant women at the Pratama Niar clinic in 2019. Conclusion: There is the effectiveness of ginger beverage on reducing emesis gravidarum in trimester 1 pregnant maternal in Niar Pratama clinic in 2019.
