Abstract
Lip Cream is a cosmetic preparation used to color the lips with an artistic so that it can increase the aesthetic value in facial makeup. One example that can be used as a natural dye is the skin of red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) because it contains a betacyanin pigment that functions as a color pigment. This study aims to determine the red dragon fruit peel extract can be formulated in Lip cream preparations and to find out the increasing variation in the concentration of red dragon peel extract affects the Lip cream test parameters.
The research method was carried out experimentally, the red dragon peel was extracted by maceration method with 70% ethanol. Made in five formulas of lip cream preparations with concentrations of F0 (0%), F1 (10%), F2 (20%), F3 (30%), F4 (40%) were tested including physical quality inspection tests and panelists.
The results of the physical quality inspection test of lip cream preparations for all preparations have the aroma of oleum vanilla with a smooth texture, F0 has white, F1 and F2 are soft light brown, F3 and F4 are dark brown. The preparation has a homogeneous arrangement, an average pH of 4.0-4.1, a F3 preparation with a good smear does not cause irritation and a much preferred concentration.
Conclusion Red dragon fruit peel extract can be as a coloring lip cream formulations. variations in the concentration used in the formulation produce differences in the color intensity of lip cream preparations made visually.
