Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which the body has a very small amount of red blood cells which results in a low hemoglobin (Hb) level. In the body, hemoglobin acts as a carrier of oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. Hemoglobin brings carbon dioxide back to the lungs and then released by the body. Based on Riskesdas 2018 data, the prevalence of anemia in young women in Indonesia increased to 48.9% compared to 2013 which was only 37.1% seen from the age group 15-24 years. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between diet and nutritional status with the incidence of anemia in female students.
The study was conducted at Banda Aceh 7 High School with a cross-sectional research design. Student subjects were selected on a proportionate stratified random sampling basis. Anemia was measured using an Easy Touch GCHb measuring instrument, energy intake, carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamin C, and fiber obtained by the food recall method and then calculated with Nutrisoft. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test..
The results showed that there was a significant relationship between energy intake (p = 0.03), protein intake (p = 0.001), vitamin C intake (p = 0.047) with the incidence of anemia in Banda Aceh 7 Senior High School students, but carbohydrate intake (p = 0.226), fat intake (p = 0.203), fiber intake (p = 0.373), and nutritional status of BMI / p (p = 0.209) did not have a significant relationship with the incidence of anemia in students of Banda Aceh 7 High School.
It can be concluded that there is a correlation between energy, protein, and vitamin C intake with the incidence of anemia, there is no correlation between carbohydrate intake, fat, fiber and nutritional status based on BMI / U with the incidence of anemia.
