Abstract
Hypertension is the most common cause of cardiovascular events and is a major problem in both developed and developing countries. Cardiovascular becomes the number one cause of death in the world every year. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the use of hypertension medication in Health Center District Air Batu Asahan 2019.
The design of this study uses descriptive research. The study was conducted from January 2019 to March 2019. The population in this study were all prescriptions for hypertensive patients using the Slovin formula of 75 patient prescriptions.
The results of the research characteristics of patient prescriptions based on sex are the majority of female sex as many as 51 patient prescriptions (68%) and aged 50-69 years as many as 41 patient prescriptions (54.7%) with systolic blood pressure of 140-159 mmHg as many as 21 patient prescriptions ( 28%) and diastolic blood pressure of 90-99 mmHg in 21 patient prescriptions (28%).
Conclusion of the results of research that more hypertensive patients are women aged 50-69 years with systolic blood pressure 140-159 mmHg and diastolic pressure 90-99 mmHg. It is recommended that health workers provide support by holding meetings by inviting cross-sectoral teams to conduct counseling and refresher on the use of hypertension drugs so that the process of forming behavior and handling prevention of hypertension will be better.
