Abstract

Surgery must be very closely related to the use of anesthesia. These surgeries and anesthetics can cause a stress response, with the result that an increase in blood sugar levels can occur. Therefore, fentanyl and pethidine anesthesia can reduce blood sugar levels. This suty objective is to determine the effect of fentanyl and pethidine anesthesia on reducing blood sugar levels in patients undergoing sectio caesaria surgery.
This study used a cross-sectional design of pre, immediately and post tests, which used secondary data from the results of the laboratory study of Hajj Hospital Medan. Samples of 30 patients who received fentanyl and petidine anesthesia.
T-test results showed blood sugar levels before surgery and instantaneous surgery with the Paired T-test Sig. of .013<.05 This means that there is an anesthetic effect on blood sugar levels before and immediately operating statistically significant. Blood sugar levels immediately and after surgery with the Paired T-test Sig. of 0.000<.05 This means that the anesthetic effect on blood sugar levels immediately and after surgery is statistically significant. Blood sugar levels before surgery and after surgery with the Paired T-test value because the Sig. .001<0.05 This means that there is an effect of anesthesia on blood sugar levels before and after surgery is statistically significant.
