Abstract

Background: Scrub cream is a cosmetic preparation used for skincare. One of the natural ingredients that can be used as raw materials for scrub cream is black sticky rice (Oryza sativa L. var glutinosa). Black sticky rice has anthocyanin content as an antioxidant that can provide a moist effect and trigger new cell regeneration. Objective: This research aims to make scrub cream preparations using the basic ingredients of black sticky rice extract with varying concentrations of 3%, 6% and 9%. Method: This research was conducted experimentally. Tests for preparations include the tests of organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, irritation, dispersion, stability, emulsion type and humidity effectiveness. Result: The results showed that the preparations made complied with the physical evaluation of the preparations, namely semi-solid texture, the colour of formula A milk-white, formula B and C light brown, formula D dark brown, oleum rose aroma, each homogeneous preparation, m /an emulsion type, pH range 6, 1-6,4, does not irritate the skin, meets the spread test requirements, has good stability, and the humidity effectiveness test shows significant results (p ≤ .05) on formulas B, C, D and does not show significant results (p ≥ .05) in formula A. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research is black sticky rice extract (Oryza sativa L. var glutinosa) can be formulated as a scrub cream, does not irritate the skin, and can provide a moisturizing effect on the skin.
