Abstract

A watershed is a land area that is an integral part of a river and its tributaries and functions to accommodate, store and drain water that comes from rainfall into lakes or the sea naturally. According to a preliminary survey conducted by researchers with 10 community interviews, it was found that only 4 people had good knowledge and attitude about actions to maintain watershed hygiene. This study aimed to determine the relationship of knowledge and attitudes of community with actions to maintain the cleanliness of the watershed in Cane Toa Village, Rikit Gaib Sub-District, Gayo Lues District.
This research type used analytical survey research methods with cross sectional approach. The population was 173 households. The sample to be studied as many as 64 respondents. Data collection techniques were done using primary, secondary and tertiary data. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square analysis test.
The results indicated that the knowledge variable has a relationship of knowledge (p=0,000). The attitude variable has a relationship (p=.002) with the action of maintaining the cleanliness of the watershed in Cane Toa Village, Rikit Gaib Sub-District, Gayo Lues District.
The conclusion of this study shows that the knowledge variable (p=0,000) and attitude variable (p=.002) have a relationship with the action of maintaining the cleanliness of the watershed in Cane Toa Village, Rikit Gaib Sub-District, Gayo Lues District. It is hoped that the village administration will promote health promotion programs and solutions to problems regarding watershed cleanliness.
