Abstract
Soap is a produced from the reaction between fatty acids with strong bases that function to wash and clean the dirt. The purpose of this study is to find out that the ethanol extract of Snack Plant leaves (Sansevieria trifasciata) ethanol Extract to be formulated in liquid soap preparations.
This study was an experimental method of liquid soap formulation consisting of components such as snack plant extract, olive oil, stearic acid, SLS, BHA, KOH, CMC, Fragrance, Ethanol, Aquadest, with a concentration of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15 with maceration. The tests for gel mask preparations included homogeneity, pH, high foam, organoleptic, and irritation tests.
The results of the research on the formulation of liquid soap preparations using ethanol extract of snack plants at a concentration of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% obtained homogeneous and non-irritating preparations. At a concentration of 0% the pH 9.83 test results obtained 104mm foam height, 5% concentration obtained pH 9.25 test results with 97mm foam height, a 10% concentration obtained pH 8.77 test results with 95mm foam height, and a 15% concentration obtained pH 8.34 test results in high 90mm foam.
The conclusion of the snack plants can be used as an additional active ingredient in liquid soap preparations. The preparations meet the pH criteria for good liquid soap, the irritant test results of the liquid soap preparations are all in the negative (-) category and the preparations do not change in shape, colour, or aroma. This means that all liquid soap preparations produced are physically stable.
