Abstract
IUD contraception is very effective to reduce maternal mortality and control the rate of population growth because of the effective use of up to 99.4% and IUD can be used for 3-5 years (hormone type) and 5-10 years (copper type). IUD contraception is inserted into the uterus in various forms, consisting of plastic (polyethylene). The purpose of this research is to find out the factors that influence maternal interest using IUD contraception at health centre Binjai Estate 2019.
The method is a comparative study observational research method is a survey with case control approach. When the study was held in March-July 2019. The population is women who use IUD as many as 33 people. While the control population was women who did not use the IUD is 33 people. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using chi-square test with 95% CI. Data processing is done by SPSS.
The results of the study if the p-value=.005 means there is an influence of knowledge with the mother's interest using IUD. Multivariate analysis results can be concluded that all the independent variables that are suspected to influence maternal interest using IUD but there is one parity that most influences the occurrence p value 0.001 <0.05..
Conclusion from variables Knowledge, parity, Husband Support, Income, information there is a significant influence with the interest of mothers using IUD. Suggestion to Health Officers, to increase the frequency of counselling both groups related to IUD for pregnant women, childbearing age, pairs and families
