Abstract

Upper Respitory Tract Infection (URTI) is an infectious disease that attacts one or more parts of the airways from the nose to the alveoli, such as the sinuses, middle ear cavity anpleura and it si one of a common problems found in Indonesia. Objective : To determine the amount of the use of URTI based on a prescription at Rantau Prapat General Hospital. Method : Secondary data (General Polyclinic) and retrospective collection by using secondary data that was done in January to March 2019. Result : Medicine of upper respiratory tract infection at Rantau Prapat General Hospital uses cefixime capsules in January = 200, Februaru = 100 and March = 160, the paracetamol tablets January = 150, February = 120, March = 120, cefixim syrup in January = 57 bottles, February = 60 bottles, March = 40 bottles, cetirizine syrup and ambroxol syrup in January = 66 bottles, February = 68 bottles, March = 48 bottles, Paracetamol syrup in January = 41 bottles, February = 50 bottles, March = 30 bottles, nystatin drop in January = 30 bottles, February = 20 bottles, March = 5 bottles, syrup in January =16 bottles, February = 10 bottles, March = 10 bottles. Conclusion : There is a prescription drug for URTI in Rantau Prapat District General Hospital in a certain number of January’s period which is most prescribed is cefixim capsule. It is suggested for further research to examine the use of URTI in Rantau Prapat District Hospital to see the rationality of the drug
