Abstract

One of the degenerative diseases which is a health problem at this time is Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Worldwide the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus is estimated to be 8.3% of adults (382 million people) having diabetes and it is estimated that the number of people suffering from this disease will increase beyond 592 million people (increasing 55%) in less than 25 years. Indonesia itself ranks 7th as the country with the most diabetics (20-70 years) in the world after China, India, USA, Brazil, Russia and Mexico 2013 .
This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge and attitudes towards the ability to consume oral hypoglycemic drugs in type 2 DM patients in Pharmacy Lestari 3 Sunggal Medan in 2019. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. The study was conducted in July 2019 at Pharmacy Lestari 3 Medan with a population of 100 people and a sample of 50 people. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square analysis test with a confidence level of 0.05.
The results of the research have demonstrated the variable knowledge discount relationship that ignifikan with variable compliance consume drugs hipoglikemik orally at the level of significant 0,000 <0 , 05 so also with variable attitudes discount relations were significant to the compliance of taking the drug hipoglikemik orally on stage signifika 0.034 <0.05. These results conclude that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards adherence to taking oral hypoglemic drugs in patients with diabetes mellitus at Sunggal 3 Pharmacy in 2019.
Recommended to patients with diabetes mellitus to be more meningkankan knowledge and information about the OHO or diabetes mellitus kind of media mass , int ernet or follow counseling .
