Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can attack various organs, especially the lungs. The number of cases of pulmonary TB in Asahan District (Kisaran) reached 1,018 people in 2018 and in the working area of the Meranti health centre. The cases reached 18 lives. This study aims to determine the use of pulmonary TB drugs in Meranti Health centre Meranti District Asahan Regency conducted in October 2018 to March 2019, based on the Guidelines for Tuberculosis Treatment of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2014.
This research was descriptive research. This study included 12 patients from the Medical Records who received TB treatment at Meranti Health Centre, Meranti District, Asahan Regency. Data collection was conducted retrospectively from October 2018 to March 2019.
The results showed that in 12 patients the most widely used OAT combination was Rifampicin, Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide and Ethambutol (99.8%). Based on the type of OAT use, all patients received treatment using the OAT-Kombipak package. Of the 12 TB patients, the use of the early stages of TB medicine was all completed and in the advanced stages of treatment, there were 6 TB patients still continuing to take the advanced stages of the drug.
It is recommended that Meranti Puskesmas be able to review the administration of OAT to outpatient TB patients with reference to therapeutic guidelines, so as to minimize existing nonconformities. In addition, Meranti Health Centre should be able to monitor side effects and evaluate TB treatment regularly.
